Yesterday’s collections from Celine and Balenciaga showcased a diverse interpretation of taste in fashion. Though Hedi Slimane was not physically present in Paris, his Spring 2025 collection for Celine made waves through a film presentation, highlighting the house’s latest ready-to-wear and accessories at the Celine offices. Titled “Un été français,” Slimane drew inspiration from Francois Sagan’s 1965 novel La Chamade, which explores themes of love and societal status.

The collection featured elegant pieces like a sophisticated pink tweed skirt suit and feminine pussy-bow blouses, alongside playful sequin twin sets paired with sleek pencil skirts. Slimane’s designs resonated with a chic, elevated aesthetic that appeals to the modern It girl.

Chitose Abe at Sacai also embraced a French sensibility with sculptural designs that blur the lines between art and wearability. Her standout pieces included a mariniere-striped blazer-dress hybrid and a sharply tailored dark-wash denim vest, emphasizing bold statements over classic norms.

Stella McCartney continued her commitment to sustainability with a stylish collection that combined power and ease. Her sexy suits and simple yet impactful designs offered practical elegance, while Gabriela Hearst drew inspiration from goddesses, showcasing breezy bodycon dresses and chic leather capes perfect for everyday wear.

At Balenciaga, Demna continued his exploration of fashion’s boundaries, presenting a self-referential collection inspired by childhood memories of designing at his grandmother’s dining table. The show featured a giant table as the centerpiece, creating a whimsical dinner party atmosphere with VIPs like Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Kidman in attendance. Each designer captured a unique aspect of contemporary fashion, contributing to a vibrant tapestry of style this season.
