McDonald’s Germany has launched a bold new limited-edition menu inspired entirely by the brand’s iconic purple mascot, Grimace. Expanding on the viral popularity of the Grimace Shake phenomenon, the fast-food giant is now introducing an all-purple food lineup headlined by a visually striking Purple BBQ Burger.
The colorful release continues McDonald’s efforts to capitalize on Grimace’s unexpected resurgence in internet culture over the past few years. Following the massive social media success of the Grimace Shake trend in 2023, the company has increasingly leaned into nostalgic character marketing and themed menu experiments designed to generate online buzz and fan engagement.
At the center of the campaign is the Purple BBQ Burger, featuring a beef patty layered with purple cheese, a creamy purple sauce, western-style sauce, onions and iceberg lettuce, all served inside a vivid purple bun. The menu’s intentionally over-the-top aesthetic fully embraces Grimace’s signature color palette while pushing McDonald’s further into novelty-driven fast-food releases.
Alongside the burger, McDonald’s Germany has also brought back the fan-favorite Grimace Shake while introducing several matching desserts and sides. Additional menu items include a purple cream cheese pie, a blueberry-inspired cake pop and a berry-flavored dipping sauce, creating a complete themed experience centered around the character.
The exclusive Grimace collection is currently available for a limited time only at participating McDonald’s locations across Germany, further proving how nostalgic mascots and internet-driven food trends continue shaping modern fast-food marketing strategies.
