Swiss clockmaker L’Epée 1839 has introduced a new timepiece inspired by the dragon, aligning with the Lunar Year of the Dragon. This creation aims to honor the revered Chinese cultural symbol while showcasing L’Epée 1839’s expertise in horology.

The design intricately incorporates the dragon’s symbolism of power, strength, and prosperity. Every detail of the dragon’s form, from its sinuous curves and intricate scales to its majestic horns and lobster-like eyes, is reflected in the clock’s intricate mechanics. The clock’s movement, the Swiss Made Caliber 1853, consists of 124 parts meticulously assembled by L’Epée 1839’s master watchmakers.

The timepiece features two dragons, one with golden scales and the other with palladium scales, coiled protectively around the gear chain at the heart of the clock. Their mirrored postures and serpentine figures embody the essence of the dragon’s spirit, symbolizing guardianship and strength.

Beyond its practical function as a clock, this creation represents a kinetic work of art. L’Epée 1839 has ingeniously adapted the clock’s movement to emulate the shape of a dragon, resulting in a piece that is both visually striking and technically sophisticated. The escapement and gears mimic the dragon’s movements, while the mainspring mirrors its inner vitality.

Limited to an edition of 88 pieces, this extraordinary work is available exclusively by request through its official site. It is offered in three distinct color variations: Gold Plated, Palladium Plated, and Red Lacquered, each priced at $11,458 USD.
