Seiko has unveiled the Prospex Speedtimer SSC947, a vibrant wristwatch that draws inspiration from the iconic Seiko 6139 “Pogue” chronograph.
The Seiko 6139 “Pogue” gained fame as a space icon when NASA astronaut Colonel William Pogue wore it during the Skylab 4 mission in 1973. While Seiko has revisited many of its vintage models over the years, the 6139 “Pogue” has not yet received a full reissue. Instead, the Prospex Speedtimer SSC947 pays homage to this model through its design cues and characteristics.
Featuring a 41.4mm stainless steel case, the SSC947 boasts a Pepsi-style bezel that complements its sunray yellow dial. The bezel’s blue and red tones contrast sharply against the matte black of the rehaut and three chronograph subdials.
Powering the watch is the V192 solar movement, providing approximately 6 months of power reserve when fully charged. The Prospex Speedtimer SSC947 is scheduled for release in August this year, priced at $700 USD.
