    Sophie Ellis-Bextor to Wow Audience with “Murder on the Dancefloor” Performance at BAFTA Awards

    The BAFTA Film Awards 2024 are set to be electrified as English singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor takes the stage to perform her iconic 2001 hit, “Murder on the Dancefloor,” featured in Emerald Fennell’s BAFTA-nominated film, Saltburn. The British Academy has announced this exciting addition to the ceremony, highlighting the song’s resurgence in popularity and its viral sensation status, catapulting it back into the music charts 22 years after its initial release.

    Described as one of the most talked-about moments in cinema this year, “Murder on the Dancefloor” has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide, becoming a trending audio on Instagram and TikTok and marking new achievements on Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok globally. Its newfound success even extends to America, where it entered the Billboard Top 100 for the first time, continuing its climb to prominence.

    The BAFTA Awards ceremony, hosted by the esteemed David Tennant, promises an evening of celebration and recognition for the finest achievements in film. Leading the pack of nominees is Christopher Nolan’s biographical epic, “Oppenheimer,” with an impressive 13 nominations, closely followed by Yorgos Lanthimos’ black-comedy science fantasy, “Poor Things,” earning 11 nominations. Additionally, Amazon/MGM’s “Saltburn,” featuring an ensemble cast including Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, and Richard E. Grant, received five BAFTA nominations.

    Taking place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18, the BAFTA ceremony will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, offering viewers around the world the opportunity to witness the magic as Sophie Ellis-Bextor dazzles audiences with her unforgettable performance of “Murder on the Dancefloor.”
