This incredible woman is driven by her mission to help domestic violence survivors turn their pain into power and empower their lives.
It is astonishing to notice how a few individuals have turned their lives 180 degrees and emerged as inspirational figures for the world. These individuals, especially from the female brigade, faced challenges, fought them and overcame them to turn their pain into power while inspiring the world to do the same. It is thus essential to put more light on the journeys of a few such highly driven and resilient people who fought it all out and created a life of their choice. Who better than Pooneh Michelle Tanaeim to serve as an example here? She has had a courageous journey from abuse to advocacy, turning her trauma into a movement to support and uplift women across the world.
Speaking more about her journey, Pooneh Michelle Tanaeim recalls how, for 25 long years, she was a victim of domestic violence, living with a con artist for 10 years of her life. For the past 13 years since she left him, he has constantly harassed, stalked and threatened to kill her. He stole funds from their life together of over millions. The attorneys she went to were bribed and didn’t help her out. Now, she is in Pro Se in the LA courts, protecting herself and her financial freedom. The man with whom she had three kids also stole her identity, she says, emphasising that he is a sociopath and closet gay who is going to prison. She has reported him to the FBI and LAPD and is in the process of developing a memoir.
Pooneh Michelle Tanaeim is not just a survivor; she is a warrior. Born in Tehran, Iran and raised in Great Neck, NY, she grew up in a loving but traditional home where marriage was considered a woman’s ultimate goal. At 26, she entered what she thought could be a dream marriage but soon found herself in a web of lies, deceit, abuse and manipulation, which haunted her for decades. Her innumerable struggles and hardships ignited the fire within her to be the voice for the voiceless. She found her voice through unimaginable pain and adversity and is now using it to help others. Her mission is clear – to empower victims of domestic violence to reclaim their lives, identities and futures.
Pooneh says, “I want women to know they aren’t alone. They aren’t weak for staying, but are powerful for surviving and even more powerful for leaving.” Pooneh’s truth is raw, unfiltered and inspiring, and her unique authenticity sets her apart. Today, her passion lies in empowering others, especially women trapped in silence and shame. She loves watching women stepping into their strength, reclaiming their soul, dignity and power. She is dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence by assisting them to heal and find the courage to rebuild. Her ultimate goal is to create a global movement, a sisterhood of survivors who uplift one another and turn their pain into purpose.

She feels inspired every single day to help other women around the world break the cycle of abuse through education, emotional support and empowerment. She is determined in her journey to challenge outdated stigmas around domestic violence and encourage legal reform that trruly protects the victims. She wants to see women win and overcome abuse and other life challenges that may hinder their growth.
Pooneh Michelle Tanaeim’s journey has been one of tragedy but also of resilience, strength, and courage. She wants to continue being a light of hope and courage for other domestic violence survivors and help them become their best selves.
