OnePlus has unveiled the world’s first all-metal 5G smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 4, which stands out as the “only metal unibody 5G smartphone” on the market. While the screen remains glass, the phone’s sleek design features a single piece of precision-milled aluminum and measures just 7.99mm thick.
The Nord 4 integrates advanced technology to accommodate 5G, including a fully reworked motherboard and significantly smaller antennas. It boasts a bright 120 Hz AMOLED display and is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 processor. Configurations include up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, providing robust performance for various uses, including gaming.
The phone is equipped with a 5,500mAh battery, the largest ever for a OnePlus Nord, which supports rapid 100-watt charging. This allows for a full charge in approximately 28 minutes, with a 5-minute charge providing up to 5 hours of Netflix viewing.
The OnePlus Nord 4’s camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera with Sony’s LYT-600 sensor, an ultra-wide camera with a 112-degree field of view, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera, also by Sony. The phone features advanced AI tools for photo editing, such as AI Eraser and AI Smart Cutout 2.0, with more updates coming later this year.
OnePlus is also offering a robust support package with six years of security updates and four versions of Android, the longest ever for a OnePlus device.
Available now in ‘Oasis Green,’ ‘Obsidian Midnight,’ and ‘Mercurial Silver,’ the OnePlus Nord 4 starts at £429 GBP / €499 EUR. There is no information yet on a U.S. release, but stay tuned for updates. In a quirky twist, OnePlus has teamed up with Finnish heavy metal band Lordi for the phone’s campaign, fittingly highlighting the all-metal design.
