Original Story: Montreal-based design studio JJJJound is back with another footwear collaboration, this time with New Balance, showcasing two new takes on the iconic 993 silhouette. This latest release continues the partnership’s tradition of earthy brown and olive tones, a color palette that JJJJound has often incorporated into previous New Balance collaborations, including the 990v3 in 2018, the 992 in 2020, the 990v3 in 2022, and the 991 in 2023.
The collection features two distinct colorways. One model features a light, fresh look with a white and bone two-tone midsole and a striking silver tongue, while the other opts for a darker, more subdued aesthetic, similar to the 2022 990v3, with black tongues, collars, overlays, and midsoles. A subtle yet notable change to the silhouette is the reimagined tongue branding, where the traditional “New Balance” and “Made in USA” text has been replaced with just the “Made in USA” branding moved to the top of the tongue, creating a minimalist gap above the shoe’s model name.
