GoPro has unveiled its latest action cameras: the HERO13 Black and the compact HERO, catering to a range of users and budgets.
The flagship HERO13 Black builds on the brand’s Emmy-award-winning legacy, delivering unparalleled performance in action photography. It captures stunning 5.3K video at 60 frames per second, ensuring crystal-clear footage in any environment. For those looking to add flair to their videos, it boasts impressive slow-motion capabilities, recording at 400 frames per second in 720p, which GoPro dubs “13x Burst Slo-Mo.” Users can also shoot at 360 frames per second in 900p and 120 frames per second in full 5.3K resolution.
A standout feature of the HERO13 Black is its ability to record in hybrid log-gamma (HLG) format, appealing to professionals seeking greater control in post-production. The camera’s battery life has been improved by 10% compared to its predecessor, ensuring reliability in various weather conditions. Additionally, it features WiFi 6 for up to 40% faster content transfers and a Magnetic Latch Mounting system for effortless accessory changes. Enhanced GPS functionality and compatibility with GoPro’s HB-Series lenses—including ultra-wide, anamorphic, and macro options—further elevate its versatility.
Alongside the HERO13 Black, GoPro introduced the HERO, touted as “the smallest, lightest, simplest to use, and lowest cost 4K camera ever with a screen.” Weighing just 86 grams—46% less than the HERO13 Black—this compact camera is waterproof up to 16 feet (5 meters) and features both touchscreen controls and a single button for easy recording. The HERO can capture 4K slow-motion video at 2x speed and still photos at 12 megapixels, with an optimized battery life of 100 minutes per charge.
Both the GoPro HERO13 Black ($399) and HERO ($199) are now available on the GoPro website.
