Speaking about how everything began for her in the business world with her brand eBay store, a unique online marketplace that believes in giving it back to people, the founder recalls it all began for her in 2015. She says that an injury made it challenging for her to continue working, and her elderly dog needed help as it was sick. She found herself at a crossroads as bills were mounting, and her beloved elderly pitbull required expensive medical care. Faced with limited options, her brother offered a life-altering but straightforward advice: “Why not start your own store?”
This necessitated her to jump into the online marketplace and start something as amazing as Belles Books & Gifts. It is a small but heartfelt venture, honouring the meaningful things and beings that inspire her. She began by selling personal items, which took off quite fast. Then, she began adding new things and expanding. Today, the store sells everything from toys and clothing to jewellery, makeup, accessories and collectables, highlighting that “all these items are based around nostalgia and pop culture, something which has touched the pulse of the generation and made the brand so popular.”
Danielle Vataj points out how, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when almost every business moved to the digital side of things, her eBay store gained more popularity due to the demand for online selling items. Today, Belles Books & Gifts is a well-known online marketplace that has seen only a surge in demand for its products, so much so that it has also been featured on top media outlets of the world like Forbes People, Elle Magazine, MSN.com, Harper’s Bazaar, NY Journal, Hollywood Insider and Forbes Founder, to name a few.
What began as a practical solution grew into a flourishing business with rare items that thrive high on nostalgia and items that can transport people back to cherished memories and happier times. This is one of the prime factors that has helped her eBay store stand out from the rest. However, giving back is the heart of the business, she emphasises. Danielle says that the deeper mission behind her business has always been and always will be – helping others. From the beginning, she vowed that if her business ever gained recognition, she could channel that success into giving back and making a difference in people’s lives. She has been doing precisely that with Belles Books & Gifts, which supports many causes today.
Proceeds from sales contribute to charities focused on childhood cancer research, animal rescue, women’s shelters, school lunches for children, the Red Cross, Feeding America and the Salvation Army. When asked what makes her eBay store truly special, Danielle Vataj credits her love of helping others and her commitment to bringing joy into their lives as one of the prime reasons.
