If the Wuthering Heights press tour is a masterclass in moody romance, Charli XCX just delivered its most dramatic chapter yet.
At the London premiere of the highly anticipated 2026 film adaptation, the singer arrived looking less like a traditional red-carpet guest and more like a heroine torn from a Victorian ghost story. Stepping onto the carpet at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, Charli embraced full gothic bridal fantasy in a blush-pink gown and sweeping veil by Erdem.
The off-the-shoulder dress was layered with shimmering floral lace and structured with a cinched waist that nodded to 19th-century wedding silhouettes. A sheer veil cascaded to the floor, obscuring the gown beneath and amplifying the air of romantic tragedy. Beneath it all, Charli’s signature smoky eye grounded the look in her unmistakably modern aesthetic—dark, defiant, and intentional.
A Soundtrack Muse, Not a Cast Member
While Charli doesn’t appear onscreen in Wuthering Heights, her presence is deeply woven into the film’s emotional core. Directed by Emerald Fennell, the adaptation stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi and leans heavily into atmosphere, longing, and obsession.
Charli composed an entire album of original music inspired by Emily Brontë’s gothic novel. The project includes tracks such as “House,” featuring John Cale, and “Chains of Love,” which prominently underscores the film’s trailer. Her red-carpet looks have become a visual extension of that soundscape—romantic, eerie, and emotionally charged.
Fashion as World-Building
This isn’t Charli’s first foray into period-inspired drama on the Wuthering Heights circuit. Just days earlier, she appeared in a sculptural gold ball gown by Vivienne Westwood, complete with a corseted bodice and exaggerated hips that pushed historical reference into avant-garde territory.
While her co-star Robbie has been earning headlines for her own modern take on period dressing, Charli’s approach feels deliberately theatrical—less ingénue, more haunted muse. Each look reads as a continuation of the story: a visual interpretation of longing, darkness, and doomed romance.
If the goal of a press tour is immersion, Charli XCX has fully crossed over—transforming herself into a living, breathing echo of Wuthering Heights itself.
