Apple’s iPhone 17 series may be months away from its official release, but early leaks have already given us a sneak peek at a significant design overhaul. Recently shared CAD renders, courtesy of leaker Majin Bu, reveal key details about the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air.
The standout feature of the new design is the camera system. Both the Pro and Air models are rumored to adopt a wider, pill-shaped camera bar that stretches across the upper portion of the device, departing from Apple’s iconic square camera module. The iPhone 17 Air, which has been rumored for months, appears to follow this new design direction, but with a single rear camera lens instead of the multiple lenses found on the Pro variants. The standard iPhone 17, however, will reportedly retain the traditional camera setup seen in previous models.
Additionally, the possibility of an iPhone 17 Air has sparked excitement, as it could replace the current Plus model. Reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Air may feature a titanium frame, setting it apart from the Pro models, which are expected to shift back to aluminum. The titanium frame first appeared in the iPhone 15 Pro lineup, but supply chain analyst Jeff Pu has suggested that environmental factors might be prompting Apple to reconsider aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro.
While Apple’s official announcement is still months away, with the company typically unveiling new iPhones in September, these leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 series could represent one of the company’s most significant design changes in recent years. If these rumors hold true, we could see a major shift in both the aesthetics and materials of Apple’s flagship devices.
