Instagram has rolled out a new feature allowing users to publicly comment on Stories. Previously, comments on Stories were limited to private messages appearing in direct messages (DMs). With this update, comments will now be visible to everyone, similar to how comments are displayed on regular Instagram posts.
Users can choose whether to enable or disable public comments on their Stories. While anyone who views the Story can see the comments, only users who are mutual followers with the poster can write comments. Like the Stories themselves, these comments will disappear after 24 hours.
This new feature brings Instagram Stories closer in functionality to its live streaming feature, where public comments are also visible to all viewers.
