Tesla has announced a major recall affecting approximately 1.85 million of its Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and Model X vehicles. This recall targets cars manufactured between 2021 and 2024 for the Model 3, Model S, and Model X, and those produced between 2020 and 2024 for the Model Y.
The recall addresses a significant safety concern identified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue involves a software flaw that may fail to alert drivers if their vehicle’s hood is not properly latched. If the hood detaches while driving, it could obstruct the driver’s view and pose a serious risk.
Tesla began investigating this problem after receiving customer complaints in March. The company has reported no injuries or fatalities linked to this issue. In response, Tesla issued a software update in June designed to fix the notification problem.
This recall adds to Tesla’s history of recalls, which have previously included issues related to the Cybertruck’s windshield wipers, Autopilot features, and accelerator pedals.
