A’ja Wilson has once again solidified her reputation as one of the WNBA’s top players by leading the Las Vegas Aces to their second consecutive WNBA Championship last season, earning her first WNBA Finals MVP in the process. As she prepares for the Aces’ season opener against the Phoenix Mercury tomorrow night, Wilson has made a special announcement with Nike Basketball: her first signature shoe is on the way.
Previously, Wilson had overseen the release of PE colorways, but 2025 will mark the debut of her own model, the Nike A’One. The announcement comes after speculation on why Wilson hadn’t received her own signature shoe, especially following the news of Caitlin Clark getting hers. It turns out that Wilson’s design has been in development for over a year. The project is led by Ben Nethongkome, known for his work on the Nike Ja 1, Nike BOOK 1, Nike KD 16, and Nike Sabrina 1. Wilson emphasized the importance of the shoe being light and comfortable for her hours on the court, while also being stylish and versatile for everyday wear. “It’s so exciting to be sharing my signature, a piece of me, with the world,” Wilson shared.
As of now, neither A’ja Wilson nor Nike Basketball have provided a specific release date for the Nike A’One. However, Nike’s announcement indicated that the shoes and accompanying apparel will be available in women’s, men’s, and kids’ sizes through Nike SNKRS and select retailers globally in 2025. Stay tuned for updates, including a first look at the new silhouette and its debut colorways.
