Lily Collins and her husband, Charlie McDowell, have officially become parents! The couple joyfully announced the arrival of their first child, a baby girl named Tove Jane, born via surrogate.
“Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell,” Collins shared on Instagram, along with a sweet photo of their newborn wearing a flowered bonnet. “Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again,” she wrote, expressing their heartfelt thanks.
The news was a pleasant surprise, as the couple had kept their pregnancy journey private, and neither had publicly shared the news of expecting a child. However, both Collins and McDowell have previously mentioned their hopes for a family. In a 2017 interview with Us Weekly, Collins spoke about her desire to start a family, sharing that her eating disorder struggles made her determined to work through those issues before having children. Meanwhile, McDowell hinted at wanting to expand their family when speaking to E! last October, saying they were ready to take the next step when the time was right.
The couple, who married in a private ceremony in Colorado in September 2021, met while working on the 2019 film Gilded Rage, which McDowell directed and Collins starred in. Last year, Collins celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary on Instagram, writing that “the best is still to come”—a sentiment that now seems to beautifully foreshadow the arrival of their baby girl.
