With her one-of-a-kind ‘The Alexander Reading Method,’ she has been redefining how children learn to read through confidence, fun and a lifelong love of literacy.
There are a few rare gems across industries worldwide who have been consistently walking on unconventional paths in pursuit of not just gaining unconventional success but, most importantly, driving a positive change in their chosen niches. It is essential to put more light on the journeys of highly determined, passionate, resilient, and purpose-driven professionals who ensure that they impact the lives of others through their incredible work. Doing precisely this in the academic space in America is Elizabeth Alexander, a woman driven by the powerful purpose of revolutionizing the sector and redefining the way children learn to read through fun, confidence and a lifelong love of literacy.

Elizabeth Alexander is the brain and heart behind ‘Reading in PreSchool,’ a premier tutorial company in early education. They stand out for their unique tutoring services. Under this, she teaches ‘The Alexander Reading Method,’ a one-of-a-kind reading program, and the phonics-based method that bridges the early learning gap and prepares children for grades 1st and higher.
The Alexander Reading Method, she highlights, has five specific levels. The company thrives on using age-appropriate educational games geared to helping children learn to focus, read and write, and find out what each child loves, which is key to children wanting to know anything at a young age. This program has been quite successful with first and second-graders.
For Elizabeth, the creator of this method, literacy is more than just a skill; it is a foundation for confidence, success and emotional well-being. She is determined in her mission to empower children early through playful, effective reading instruction and, in doing so, transform educational outcomes across the country. The literacy scores in the US have remained alarmingly low. Thus, Elizabeth wants to reach education decision-makers and show them what’s possible when the focus is shifted to the formative early years.

Mentioning her journey, Elizabeth says she started her company after many years of encouragement to offer value to children in the academic world. She faced several challenges throughout the process, including rejection from schools and learned to hire, train, manage people, and run a business. She also learnt to pursue her passion for helping children become great readers to open a world of confidence that would last a lifetime.
Talking about her struggles, Elizabeth pointed out two main struggles – 1. Starting the business at a time when people didn’t realize young children could learn to read through play, and 2. She learned she had a chronic illness the same year she started the business. This led her to trust someone to take responsibility for a while; however, the person tried stealing the company, but Elizabeth didn’t let that stop her and, in the process, learned patience while learning to slow down. Luckily, after much word of mouth over the years, parents today have realized the benefits of her program, helping her company expand into four different states. This led her to employ over 35+ people and helped over 500 students go from beginner readers to the top of their classes by 2nd grade.

“I believe that my innate understanding of what it takes for a young child to enjoy learning has helped me reach this far in my journey and stand apart,” Elizabeth says. She adds that she is now more than determined to address the poor literacy rate in the US, which has been highlighted in numerous studies over the years.
With her company (@readinginpreschool) and unique method, Elizabeth Alexander wants every child to thrive and receive a fun and engaging early education.
