A$AP Rocky’s highly anticipated fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, was initially scheduled for release on August 30. However, fans will now have to wait a bit longer as the rapper has announced a delay. The new release date is set for the fall, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
In a recent cover story for Billboard, Rocky addressed the reasons behind the postponement. The rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to elaborate on the situation, explaining that leaks and sample clearance issues are disrupting the album’s release. He wrote, “LEAKS & SAMPLE CLEARANCES ARE DISRUPTING THE ALBUM. ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT.”
Despite the setback, Rocky has teased the album’s impressive lineup of collaborators, including long-time friend Tyler, the Creator, Morrissey, Pharrell, Mike Dean, Hitkidd, Madlib, Metro Boomin, and The Alchemist. In his Billboard interview, Rocky shared that he played the album for renowned director Tim Burton. According to Rocky, Burton was highly impressed, “rocking his head” and expressing surprise at the direction of Rocky’s music. Burton reportedly remarked, “Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!”
Don’t Be Dumb will be Rocky’s first album in six years. Although the new release date remains unannounced, fans can look forward to an album that promises to showcase Rocky’s growth and creativity over the past few years.
