Her hands-on approach to plastic surgery recovery, thriving on her “Psomas Method,” has helped her patients become their best versions.
Things are constantly changing across all industries of the world, but sometimes a development comes along that changes the game of an industry. Those thinkers, innovators, and founders need to be credited for the work they are doing and the impact they are having on the lives of others. One ever-changing industry is the medical realm, and in it, a progressive thinker and specialists has risen up from the world of Physical Therapy. Nicole Psomas stands unique from the rest as a celebrity physical therapist who is known for her own “Psomas Method,” and has become a pioneer in plastic surgery recovery.
For over 13 years she has been practicing her own method on patients, which has made her a trailblazer in the industry and given her immense recognition for all the right reasons. The much-talked-about recovery expert says that lengthy recovery post plastic surgery has become a thing of the past. Some common surgeries she is an expert on are: liposuction, breast implants and breast reduction, tummy tucks, facelifts, buttock implants, rhinoplasty and more! With a focus on the mind, body, and home, Nicole’s hands-on approach has allowed her patients to maximize their post-surgery results and appearance while preventing complications, decreasing swelling, increasing range of motion, reducing pain, increasing sensation, and minimizing scar tissue.
Nicole Psomas shared that her catalyst to beginning this work came in 2009. She was constantly working out, but struggled to lose weight in the area around her stomach. So, she decided to do her research on laser liposuction and consulted with the top plastic surgeons in NYC. She came to the conclusion that she was going to have a liposuction procedure done a week before her birthday. However, she was not prepared for what happened after surgery, and was shocked when she came out looking like one of her trauma patients. So, Nicole stepped back, looked at the bigger picture and decided to take matters into her own hands. She switched on her physical therapist brain, worked on herself, and implemented numerous physical therapy related techniques to help her healing process. At her first follow up appointment, her surgeon was floored with her results, and asked how she was so far along in her recovery. She shared what she was doing and he suggested that she start working with other patients of his to improve their results as well. Her surgeon Dr. David Shafer encouraged her to be the first to take up plastic surgery recovery back in 2009, and she has never looked back.
Since then, Nicole Psomas has been working with many influential and prominent actors, corporate CEOs, TV hosts, politicians, socialites, TV personalities, international figures, and many others. “The Psomas Method” is her trademarked method of recovery, which she describes in detail in over 330 pages in her published book, “After The Cut: How To Prepare For and Recover From Cosmetic Plastic Surgery” (@afterthecutbook).
She highlights how there are physical therapists for every other medical domain, but nothing had previously existed for elective cosmetic plastic surgery. So, she created her method and has introduced physical therapy post plastic surgery to the world. Currently, she has expanded her specialized treatment to zoom consultations, which has broadened her reach worldwide.
