Lupita Nyong’o has officially been named the newest ambassador for Chanel. The Oscar-winning actress, producer, and New York Times bestselling author made her debut at the Spring/Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week. A long-time friend of the iconic fashion house, Nyong’o has previously donned numerous Chanel creations, including a stunning Haute Couture gown at the Academy Museum Annual Gala last December.
Shortly after her announcement, Nyong’o attended her first regular Chanel show, marking a new chapter in her relationship with the brand. She first gained widespread acclaim for her role in Steve McQueen’s Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave, for which she received an Oscar, SAG Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Independent Spirit Award, and NAACP Image Award.
In addition to her fashion endeavors, Nyong’o recently launched her podcast, Mind Your Own, which focuses on non-fiction cultural storytelling from the African diaspora. She is also set to return to the stage in 2025, portraying Viola in Shakespeare in the Park’s summer production of Twelfth Night, alongside stars like Peter Dinklage, Sandra Oh, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Her recent work includes a role in the A Quiet Place franchise spinoff, A Quiet Place: Day One, and she is well-known for her portrayal of Nakia in Marvel’s Black Panther. Additionally, Nyong’o narrated her debut children’s book, Sulwe, for Netflix’s Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices, which earned her an Emmy Award.
