BMW has recently revealed its latest concept car, the Skytop, at the esteemed Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este held at Lake Como. Paying homage to legendary models like the BMW Z8 and BMW 503, the Skytop combines sophistication, luxury, and dynamic performance in a breathtaking open two-seater design.
Exuding a blend of elegance and athleticism, the Concept Skytop boasts a distinctive and exotic appearance. Its meticulously crafted body features warm monochromatic colors and seamlessly integrates exclusive materials with traditional craftsmanship, setting it apart both inside and out.
Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, describes the Skytop as “truly unique and exotic,” reminiscent of the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este tradition. He emphasizes the vehicle’s exceptional driving dynamics and elegance, drawing parallels with iconic predecessors such as the BMW Z8 and BMW 503.
The exterior design of the Skytop showcases athletic proportions and flowing lines, accentuated by precise details. Innovative winglets replace conventional door handles, while intricate light alloy wheels contribute to its striking aesthetic.
The interior of the Skytop exudes opulence, with leather-finished roll-over bars, side fins, and a retractable rear window. Removable leather roof parts can be stored conveniently in the luggage compartment, adding to the vehicle’s versatility. The cabin features brogue-style leather surfaces, crystal applications, and masterfully crafted details, reminiscent of BMW’s traditional saddlery craftsmanship.
Under the hood, the Skytop shares engine variants with the BMW Z8, boasting the most powerful V8 engine in BMW’s portfolio to ensure exceptional performance to match its stunning design.
While BMW has not yet disclosed plans for mass production of the Skytop, the concept car represents a tribute to automotive heritage and innovation, capturing the essence of iconic BMW models while pushing boundaries in design and performance.
