YouTube is advancing its fight against synthetic content with the development of two new AI detection tools. The platform is working on features designed to identify AI-generated music and detect artificial faces.
The first tool, known as “synthetic-singing identification technology,” aims to spot deepfake music, such as the recent viral but fake collaboration between Drake and The Weeknd. This feature will be integrated into YouTube’s Content ID system, which is available to copyright owners for tracking and managing their content.
The second tool will enable users across various industries—ranging from athletes to artists—to identify AI-generated images of themselves.
With billions of claims processed annually through Content ID, YouTube expects a surge in its use as generative AI technology becomes more prevalent. These new tools are part of YouTube’s broader effort to address the challenges posed by advanced AI technologies.
