A resilient woman who is making strides in America
Fortune favors the bold. In the eyes of Tatiana Alexandrovna Zemskova, those who seize the day reap bountiful results. “I’ve always been straightforward and genuine when it comes to making decisions. I never beat around the bush because I know the things I want to achieve from the start,” she explained. Her personality spoke of versatility and charm that enabled her to connect with others. She aspired to become successful in whatever endeavor she chose from a young age. Following the success of her business in the jewelry industry, her next mission is to empower other women and inspire them to chase their dreams. “Trust in your capabilities and believe that you can make it because I did,” she said.
Her Sources of Strength
Tatiana’s childhood days were happy and comfortable back in Moscow, Russia, with a well-off family that is always ready to support her dreams in life. Her father was a talented man who worked as a military translator and transitioned into an editor-in-chief after retirement. When the Soviet Union collapsed, he became a businessman supplying seafood to various parts of Russia. However, he succumbed to a heart attack when Tatiana was eleven. Her world suddenly tumbled upside down in the blink of an eye. “Losing a parent was the most difficult thing that happened to me, but I had to accept it to move forward and face the challenges straight ahead,” she revealed. She admitted that the happy memories of her father and the constant support from her mother became her source of motivation to rise and become resilient in the face of adversity.
What You Do Today Help Shape Your Tomorrow
Knowledge is an asset that Tatiana deeply treasured. She hungered to know more and desired to hone her skills through formal education. “Knowledge brings you to different places and promising careers. When you have access to higher education, make sure to make the most of it,” she advised. As a result, she finished two degrees in finance, one of which came from a prominent British College.
When Tatiana turned eighteen, she landed a job at a prestigious company that gave her more confidence to elevate her career. Working as an accountant at the top business in the country inspired her to dream big. It led to more opportunities that made her the epitome of a capable woman driven to succeed. “Before I became a trade marketing manager, I had minimal knowledge in marketing. But that deficit didn’t stop me from trying. I believed in myself and remained confident throughout the process,” she said. With sheer determination, Tatiana outwitted other applicants and secured the position. From that moment on, she knew she was steadfast and unstoppable.
The Challenges of Being an Immigrant
In 2013, Tatiana moved to the United States to continue her quest for growth and development. However, she discovered that the language barrier became a hurdle to effective communication. “Moving to a different country demands courage to successfully create meaningful relationships and adapt to the new culture. You have to integrate yourself completely, and I understand that it can be hard for most immigrants,” she disclosed. Tatiana knew that she had to overcome her fears to attain her goals. While her status as an immigrant becomes prey to others who want to take advantage of her vulnerability, she refuses to back down and give up. To improve her English proficiency, she took writing classes at Columbia University and remained expressive and outgoing with new friends to practice her skills. She delved into online sales and used her experience to build her business years later. Tatiana’s tenacity shows her dedication to developing herself to serve better.
Words of Wisdom
When asked about what advice she’d have given herself when she was a teenager, Tatiana thoughtfully answered, “I’d tell myself to be more patient and focused. Hone in on one skill and stick to it.” She confessed that she used to jump from one field to another, leaving her with little time to improve her skills. She also emphasized the importance of having a mentor. Having someone who can give sound advice and guidance on specific situations was something Tatiana wished she acquired when she was younger. “I didn’t have a mentor growing up, so I learned everything myself. I devoted myself to connecting with others to acquire knowledge and skills over the years,” she said. “I’d hire a mentor to guide me through the difficult stages if I could afford it back then. Life becomes easier when we have someone to help us.”
Tatiana’s journey taught her valuable lessons that shaped who she is today. Her next move is to help women overcome low self-esteem and end inequality. “I had many ups and downs while establishing my career, but I didn’t allow the negativity to affect me. I’m still here, loud and proud; ready to take on anything that the future holds,” she expressed. Tatiana wants to remind women that strength comes from within; everyone has an extraordinary power waiting to grow and conquer the complexities of life. “The biggest challenge during the pandemic as a woman in a new country was changing my entire paradigm of life,” stated Tatiana. “You’re not alone. You don’t have to do everything on your own. Look inside yourself and discover an incredible power that can propel you to the top.”
