With a million-dollar purse at stake, the event showcased the prowess of four tennis legends, adding an exciting twist to the rapidly growing sport of pickleball. In a thrilling final match, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf emerged victorious against their formidable opponents, John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova. Andre Agassi shared insights into his and Graf’s training regimen.
“I feel like you guys are now the Pickleball Power Couple,” per Lauren Barrett of TBE Sports exclaimed. “We just get after it,” Agassi responded enthusiastically. “We find like level players, maybe even a little better, and we push ourselves to compete, and we like to test ourselves through the fire. Lately, we have gotten into some drilling, that kind of disciplined practice; mostly it is just competing.” Barrett continued, “What should everyone expect after all of this?” “That we are going to keep it up,” Agassi affirmed confidently.
Agassi has made a big push into the sport recently, being announced as part of the new investment and management team of DUPR, which raised $8M to help fund its expansion of operations. Clearly, this is not the last time we will hear from Agassi about Pickleball.
