Mariska Hargitay is celebrating her late mother Jayne Mansfield’s legacy with both style and sentiment.
While promoting her new documentary My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay, the Law & Order: SVU star paid tribute to the Hollywood icon during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Arriving at the Ed Sullivan Theater, Hargitay made a striking entrance in a black tailored suit adorned with drop-pearl and crystal embellishments. She completed the sophisticated look with black lace camisole details and sleek jet-black stilettos—channeling both elegance and nostalgia.
The outfit was a heartfelt homage to one of Mansfield’s most iconic looks: a pearl-embellished black dress she famously wore to the 1958 Cannes Film Festival. Mansfield, a Golden Globe and Theatre World Award winner, paired her ensemble with wrist-length white gloves and a dramatic fur stole, radiating classic Hollywood glamour.
Hargitay’s latest project, My Mom Jayne, marks her directorial debut and a deeply personal exploration of her mother’s life and legacy. The documentary premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival before making its U.S. debut at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The Tribeca premiere brought out a host of supporters and celebrities, including SVU alums Christopher Meloni and Kelli Giddish, actress Brooke Shields, and music icon Cher. Hargitay’s husband, actor Peter Hermann, was also by her side during the emotional celebration.
Having carved out her own place in entertainment history, Hargitay has become one of television’s most recognized and respected talents. With SVU, she not only continues her mother’s legacy of on-screen charisma but also expands it—now from behind the camera.
