Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated Chromatica Ball concert film is finally set to premiere later this month, nearly two years after its initial announcement, the singer revealed on Wednesday.
Originally revealed in 2022, the film will showcase highlights from Gaga’s global Chromatica Ball stadium tour, featuring music from her 2020 album, Chromatica. Fans can catch the movie’s debut on HBO on May 28, with subsequent streaming availability on Max.
In the trailer for the film, Gaga exclaims, “Put your hands up, come on!” Taking to Instagram, she reflected on the project, stating, “This film chronicles a time of immense creativity… the fashion, the dance, the music. Revisiting the tour leaves me speechless the way we had each other — you all showed up for music and art in a big way, and with a level of excitement and freedom that I will never forget.”
Expressing her gratitude to her fans, whom she affectionately refers to as “monsters,” Gaga continued, “See yourself in every vocal, every fabric choice, the choreography, every image. Here’s the truth — no matter where life or my career has taken me, my time with you always is a path back to a very powerful part of myself.”
Detailing her involvement in the film’s editing process, Gaga shared, “I spent countless hours in the editing room bringing my vision for this film to life. It is my gift to you – directed, produced and created by me, alongside some of the most talented, creative people in the world.”
Originally slated for the summer of 2020, the Chromatica Ball tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gaga announced the film project in September 2022, confirming that cameras had captured her Sept. 10, 2022 performance at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. She also holds directorial and production credits for the film.
