Insta360 is redefining aerial filmmaking with the announcement of Antigravity, a new sub-brand debuting with the Antigravity A1—the world’s first drone to feature 8K 360-degree video capture.
Set to launch in January 2026, the A1 introduces a bold new way to experience drone flight. Lightweight at just 249 grams, the drone features a dual-lens setup—one on top, one underneath—designed to record the complete environment without blind spots. The footage isn’t just high-resolution; it’s fully immersive.
Piloting the A1 is just as revolutionary. Instead of a traditional joystick controller, the drone comes with Vision Goggles and a Grip Controller, allowing users to fly using simple hand gestures. This intuitive system, powered by Antigravity’s proprietary FreeMotion technology, provides an immersive flying experience that’s closer to real-world movement than anything seen before in the consumer drone space.
“Our goal wasn’t to build just another drone,” said BC Nie, Head of Marketing at Antigravity. “We set out to reimagine what flying could feel like—something intuitive, expressive, and creative enough for anyone to enjoy.”
The immersive aspect extends beyond flight. With its 360-degree field of view, a single take from the A1 can generate multiple shots, making it a powerful creative tool for filmmakers, content creators, and adventurers. The footage can be re-edited from different angles long after landing, giving users unmatched flexibility in post-production.
While the A1 marks Insta360’s first foray into drones, the company has long been a leader in 360-degree imaging, thanks to its acclaimed X Series cameras. The launch comes just weeks after rival brand DJI entered the 360 space with its Osmo 360, setting up a new front in the ongoing competition between the two tech giants.
Ahead of the launch, Insta360 is inviting global creators to take part in shaping the Antigravity product ecosystem. Select participants will receive early access to pre-production units of the A1 to test, provide feedback, and inspire new applications for the technology.
Pricing for the Antigravity A1 has yet to be announced. But with its blend of high-end specs, intuitive control, and immersive visuals, it’s already shaping up to be one of the most exciting drone releases of 2026.
