At Milan Fashion Week, Diesel’s SS25 show reaffirmed the brand’s deep-rooted connection to denim, showcasing the material’s versatility in stunning ways. The impressive set, constructed from over 15 tons of denim scraps, not only served as a striking backdrop but also exemplified the brand’s commitment to sustainability—this waste will be repurposed into materials for various industries. “There is beauty in waste and in the circularity of denim,” explained creative director Glenn Martens. “We are disrupting Diesel by advocating for circular production alongside innovative design.”
Martens’ latest collection featured over 70 looks that reimagined denim’s potential. Highlights included coats crafted from leftover thread, bandanna prints that created trompe l’oeil effects, and leather jackets designed to mimic distressed denim.
Intriguingly, several pieces incorporated deceptive details, such as a “distressed” neckline achieved through devoré jacquard and overdyed denim that offered a unique camel hue. The collection also featured denim micro shorts with exaggerated fringing, defying traditional distressing methods.
