An Inspiring Origin Story
“I have accomplished many great things, but my greatest accomplishment is my ability to love myself and the ability to love others. Isn’t this the highest form of living? Are you living?” – Rugare Gomo
Rugare Gomo’s journey begins far from the corporate boardrooms where he now thrives. He grew up in a small town in Zimbabwe and dreamed of a better life. At just 16, he arrived in Australia alone, with little more than a backpack and a few hundred dollars. The odds were stacked against him, but Rugare was determined to create a path forward.
He faced barriers early, including citizenship restrictions that prevented him from applying to law firms after completing his legal studies. Undeterred, he carved out his own opportunities, using his determination and resourcefulness to break down firmly shut doors. From those beginnings, he built a career that spans global influence—helping startups grow into multinational companies with hundreds of employees and collaborating with billion-dollar corporations. Rugare’s life is a shining example of perseverance and the belief that circumstances do not define destiny.
A Unique Voice in Leadership
“It seems to me that I am a pioneer. I am a pioneer because I am myself” – Rugare Gomo
As a black, gay businessman, Rugare is no stranger to being the only person like himself in the room. He often finds himself working in spaces where stereotypes and societal expectations loom. Instead of conforming, he embraces his differences, challenging the narrative of what leadership looks like.
Rugare’s perspective is rooted in authenticity. He believes no one should have to alter who they are to fit into society. His mission is clear: to empower others to embrace their unique identities and lead unapologetically. As the first African-Australian gay black man to write a memoir, he is broadening his reach and sharing his message of self-acceptance and courage with those ready to reimagine success on their own terms.
A Vision for Empowerment
“Education without Empowerment is the same as having no education at all. Are you Empowered?” – Rugare Gomo
Drawing on his expertise as a trained lawyer, leadership coach, and business strategist, Rugare encourages individuals and organizations to rise above challenges and unlock their full potential. His work is about more than achieving business success—it’s about enabling personal growth and development.
Rugare envisions a future where he speaks on global stages, motivating people to embrace their power and tackle life’s complexities. He dreams of writing three more books, including one on his journey to overcome personal struggles like recovering from sex addiction. Each endeavor is driven by his passion to help others lead lives filled with purpose and authenticity.

Living Life on His Own Terms
