Beyoncé is adding a new venture to her impressive portfolio with the launch of SirDavis Whisky, a tribute to her family’s legacy and her passion for Japanese whisky. Named after her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a moonshiner during Prohibition, SirDavis Whisky combines tradition with innovation.
Davis Hogue, known for his discreet whisky-making during Prohibition, inspired Beyoncé’s creation of this American whisky. SirDavis Whisky is crafted to embody both the craftsmanship and legacy of Hogue’s moonshine, reflecting Beyoncé’s personal connection to the spirit.
“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence that comes with quality whisky,” says Beyoncé, the founder of SirDavis. “Discovering that my great-grandfather was a moonshiner felt like a sign. SirDavis is my way of honoring him and creating a new legacy.”
The whisky is finished, blended, and bottled in Texas, marking Moët Hennessy’s first internally developed spirit in the U.S. Under the guidance of renowned Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden, SirDavis boasts a distinctive 51 percent rye and 49 percent malted barley mash bill. This blend results in a smooth, spicy, and subtly sweet profile, with a unique secondary maturation in sherry casks.
SirDavis Whisky has already garnered acclaim, winning Best in Class for American Whisky at the 2023 SIP Awards. The bottle itself is a design marvel, featuring sleek curves and ribbed glass with a black medallion and bronzed horse, echoing Beyoncé’s artistic touch and personal history.
Retailing at $89 USD, SirDavis is available for pre-order at SirDavis.com. It will hit shelves across the U.S. and select international locations, including London, Paris, and Tokyo, starting September 2024.
