We couldn’t help but notice how surgeon Dr. Joseph Talbet emerged as one such brilliant example for the world, thriving on his passion for adding more value to people’s lives.
Dr. Joseph Talbet today stands tall and unique as a one-of-a-kind medical professional from New York City, the US, who has been taking over the world of medicine, working on the vision to marriage art and medicine. During his undergraduate degree from Columbia University was where his passion for art was cultivated. He is a holder of two Medical degrees with honors and, since then, has come a long way in the industry. For his passion for art and painting, he always envisioned to translating that passion into medical science. During the pandemic, he noticed how the general public lacked the right medical knowledge, and this was the gap he aimed to fill.
“Most medical books that I have read or know about lack racial and body sizes diversity, unfortunately,” he says. Hence, with the aim to offer people value, the surgeon founded The Illustrated Book of Medicine, a one-of-a-kind company dedicated to improving learning practices in medicine with the power of illustrations. He is not just the CEO of the company but has also turned into a lead author with his work “The Illustrated Book of Medicine,” under which he has published more than twenty books and wants to continue doing that in the coming times. He confesses how he is dedicated toward the goal of closing the racial and economic gap in medical studies, which he has noticed over the years.
Addressing the lack of diversity and inclusion in medical studies books, he has tried to increase awareness and promote knowledge and interest in the medical field. He wants people to understand that learning about medicine should be a basic human right, and everyone should be aware about what it is exactly. Hence, he feels it is time for authors to focus more on diversity and inclusion in representing different ethnicities, cultures, races and communities.

Dr. Joseph Talbet further explains how the Covid-19 pandemic brought to light many things that people initially had no knowledge about, for which he even published two books, COVID Takes NYC and Rona the Villain Virus. Through these books, he ensures to let even laypeople know how viruses work within the body and much other valuable information to debunk the misinformation that has been spread like the virus across the world.
He says it is time for the general public to open their eyes and mind to real knowledge, which they can only gain from experienced doctors and medical professionals in the industry or by relying on books like his, where they can clear many misconceptions and gain better insights and knowledge.
Dr. Joseph Talbet loves how he is privileged to be a tool bringing healing to people. In the near future, he aims to transition to TV shows and series for kids to further spread real knowledge and promote inclusivity.
