The world of art, films and entertainment is one to have seen the rise of several such incredibly talented professionals and creative minds, who through all these years have ensured to stun audiences with their work and create stories that could resonate with one and all. We couldn’t help but notice the rise of one such exceptional talent, who is though a rising name as a filmmaker, is poised to take over the entertainment world with his feature films; we are talking about filmmaker Peter Zerzan.
Peter Zerzan is one name that is already making a lot of noise with the shorts he has directed thus far as a passionate filmmaker. He feels highly driven and committed to produce and create meaningful films with the ambitious goal of enticing audiences back to theatres. Peter began his career in an altogether different field. He first attained a political science degree and worked as a political organizer, travelling across Midwest cities like Gary, Allentown, Cleveland, and Flint to support campaigns and social causes. Amidst all the work, he felt something was amiss. Hence, in 2017, he returned to his first love – filmmaking.
Returning to his passion filmmaking, initially seemed like a bold move for him, but it turned out to be his destiny, as can be known by the two shorts he has already directed thus far. His first short film premiered at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in 2021. The two successes in the form of his two short films has already motivated Peter Zerzan further to direct his third short, upon which he is already working, all while laying the groundwork for his debut feature film.
Talking about struggles in life, the rising filmmaker says that he doesn’t believe any singular struggle or event brought him to where he is today. “I believe people are the sum of all their experiences in life, not just one. I think you have to work hard to get to where you want. Something can inspire you but being creative is a marathon, not a sprint. You need luck to succeed in any field. However, as the saying goes, luck favors the prepared,” highlights Peter Zerzan. He further explains that there are mistakes that one makes that they can’t just read about to learn from. They need to learn about who is reliable and who isn’t, how something can be done the right way and how to express ideas properly, which they can learn only through trials and errors.
Taking inspiration from his wife and son every single day, Peter Zerzan loves taking an abstract idea or a concept and turn into something that everyone can see. He loves fleshing out ideas, trying different ways to get to where he needs to go and ultimately creating a product for everyone to enjoy. “Another thing that keeps me motivated to do better at my work is working and collaborating with others in the industry,” he says. Filmmaking is a collaborative medium and he loves working with others and people from varied backgrounds, as it gives him a new perspective altogether, he believes.
Peter Zerzan feels determined to make good movies that people can watch in theatres.
