Kevin Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner who has largely stayed out of the public eye since facing allegations of sexual misconduct, is set to make his first appearance at a comic book convention. The event is scheduled for Feb. 16-18 at Mad Monster in Concord, North Carolina, where Spacey will be signing autographs and taking photos with fans. For those unable to attend in person, autograph purchases can be arranged through Everest Autographs.
Spacey is known for his roles in films such as The Usual Suspects (1995) and American Beauty (1999), as well as his portrayal of Lex Luthor in Superman Returns (2006) and his involvement in Netflix’s House of Cards. Following the allegations against him in late 2017, Spacey has largely avoided public appearances, with the exception of reprising his House of Cards character in a series of holiday videos.
Despite facing legal troubles and career fallout, including being fired from House of Cards and being replaced in a film by Ridley Scott, Spacey was acquitted of sexual assault charges in the U.K. in July. While some in his circle believe he feels vindicated by the verdict, it is widely believed in Hollywood that he is unlikely to work in the industry again. In recent years, Spacey has taken on roles in low-budget independent films, and now he is venturing into the world of comic book conventions, where both A-listers and lesser-known actors have found opportunities to engage with fans.
