Jillian Michaels is sounding the alarm on the widespread embrace of Ozempic, a diabetes drug that’s gaining popularity as a weight loss solution. In an exclusive interview with E! News, the renowned fitness trainer expressed her concerns about the potential fallout from the drug’s increasing usage.
Michaels didn’t mince words when discussing her apprehensions about Ozempic, emphasizing the need for caution when considering the injectable medication, originally intended for treating Type 2 diabetes. She highlighted the emerging information about the drug, particularly its potential side effects, and pointed out the experiences of public figures like Sharon Osbourne and Chelsea Handler, who have raised issues with its effects.
The trainer drew attention to the documented side effects listed on the drug’s website, including thyroid tumors, gallbladder problems, pancreatitis, kidney issues, vision loss, and stomach paralysis, among others. Michaels also referenced a class action lawsuit related to stomach paralysis, while acknowledging the company’s response to the allegations. Additionally, she mentioned warnings from experts about significant muscle loss and the physical changes associated with rapid weight loss, such as the so-called “Ozempic face.”
Drawing from her extensive experience as a personal trainer and her tenure on “The Biggest Loser,” Michaels emphasized that, in her professional experience, weight loss has consistently resulted in improved physical appearance for individuals. However, she expressed her belief that there may be underlying factors contributing to the reported breakdown of collagen, based on her observations and anecdotal evidence.
Michaels’ candid remarks shed light on the potential risks associated with Ozempic and underscore the importance of thorough consideration and awareness when exploring medical treatments for weight management.
