Putin says Russia may deploy tactical nukes in Belarus: NPR

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has declared that his nation has nuclear tactical weapons stationed in Belarus

Belarus, a country that borders Russia and is a part of its military alliance, has not responded to Putin's words.

A 1991 agreement between Russia and the United States that forbade the use of nuclear weapons in Belarus is broken by Belarus' deployment of such weapons today.

Russia has been urged by the US State Department to uphold its treaty responsibilities and withdraw the nuclear weapons from Belarus.
