Fernando Alonso said that his fifth-place finish in the Bahrain Grand Prix was the "perfect start" to his Aston Martin project.

Alonso was competing in his first race since 2018 after taking a two-year break from Formula One

The Spanish driver said he was happy with his performance and that the result was better than he expected.

Alonso credited the team's preparation and strategy for his strong showing in Bahrain .he also praised his teammate, Esteban Ocon, who finished in ninth place.

Alonso said that the team was already focused on the next race and looking to build on their strong start.

The former world champion said he was enjoying being back in Formula One and that he felt comfortable in the car.

Alonso recognised that the club could improve in several aspects, but he was optimistic that they will make improvement.

He also stated that he is looking forward to the challenge of fighting against Formula One's elite teams.
